The legend of the spring

Very close to the hotel and swimming area, nestled at the foot of a small hill, is a spring of drinking water. From it emerges the Prinovec stream. Even though the legend surrounding the source has it that the water could only be bought with coins, its freshness is now available for free.

Once an important spring

Before waterworks were invented, the spring was a vital source of drinking water for the local people. Rainwater catchments were used in the villages at that time, but when those ran dry in the hot summer months, the villagers would come to the spring – with barrels and buckets stacked onto cow-drawn carts.

Oral tradition has it that the owner of this plot of land put up next to the spring a sign that read: Bring a coin (PRINESI NOVEC) if you want to drink from the spring. As the syllables NESI faded with time, only the word PRINOVEC remained. So this is how the spring with healthful and crystalline water got its name.
